This uniquely crafted, larger sized natural sculpture in petrified wood is one of the most unique presentations of natural art I've seen yet from this amazing petrified forest! The kinky, gnarled wood grain on the exterior of this one is every bit as unique and fascinating as the unusual, knotted wood grain revealed in the cut and polished face of this amazing gem petrified wood display piece! It's also so gemmy and highly polished that even my attempt at the final close-up of the gorgeous wood grain just became an exercise in photographing reflections. It will just have to be seen and handled to know how visually captivating that wood grain and multi-million year old texture on the husk of this fossil log really is! This log spent a lot of time weathering on the surface to produced the contorted, very gnarly exterior that makes it so beautiful and fascinating. It looks rough and crumbly but it is solid, hard agate gemstone through and through! This appears to be the kinky, multi-hearted end of a large stump and teh wood grain is revealed beautifully in the mirror polished face. This log was found on the surface of just one of the many collecting areas containing petrified wood found throughout the McDermitt caldera. The wood structure appears to be a very slow growing hardwood and it is intricately preserved both in the polished face and on the exterior. This large sculpture represents a significant cross section that shows gorgeous wood structure through the entire face of the polished stone! This is one of the larger display specimens we've cut recently like this - it's really a beautiful and captivating 3D fossil art form!

You simply won't believe how beautiful this petrified wood specimen is until you see it in person! The dramatic presentation of the surface is unlike any petrified wood I've ever encountered. The log actually contains several knots in the face of what must have been an enormous tree! The shape is otherwise unfazed and the log well preserved. The size alone makes this one a true masterpiece and it will look magnificent on a mantle or desk. We don't get a chance to cut a lot of full round logs as stand-ups like this - this one is really unique in many respects.

This is a really beautiful specimen of the petrified wood found in a desolate sagebrush desert that spans over 100 square miles on the Oregon/Nevada border. It's a pretty nice wedge shaped piece of petrified wood, with absolutely gorgeous gem quality agate in many rich colors preserving this ancient fossil. The exterior is covered with weathered knots. The inside, however, is a richly colored array of gem quality agate that preserved the wood grain beautifully in every detail! The cell structure from the growth rings in this attractive fossil specimen are very well defined and flow artfully. This is one of Oregon's premier petrified wood deposits known to collectors the world over. If you don't have a specimen from this area, this would be a dandy to get you acquainted!!

This intricately shaped display piece was cut at a steep vertical angle and then polished to show off all the gemmy detail inside. The base is cut flat so that you can present it nicely without a stand and show it off on a bookshelf or mantle. It took a beautiful polish, it really does look like a mirror! It's another one of those beautiful fossil treasures that some happy Sticks-in-Stones customer is going to flip over!

This big, stunning display piece stands about 9" tall and measures approx. 13 3/4" x 7 1/2" wide on the cut face. It's about 4" thick at the base. Weight is about 21.4 lbs. This beauty is far more impressive in person than these photos can capture! This will make a fabulous display piece to show off this winter!
