This is one of the fanciest and most eye catching Condor agates we've cut this year. It's a truly flawless, perfect example of the rich, glowing colorful agates found in Argentina. This one opens into a small drusy crystal lined geode cavity in the center. The color appears to be molten with a single black band inexplicably formed amongst the hot colors of the rest of the nodule. I've been into my secret stash to cut a few more agates and one of them was this amazing beauty! It's a full pattern nodule with one of the most vibrant color patterns you'll ever find in a Condor. The bands of color literally appear to glow! These stones are always difficult to photograph because they change so dramatically based on the color, direction and intensity of the light source. This one is pretty much blood orange red and fire orange agate. The rind is virtually flawless making this a true collector piece. A truly flawless specimen without a single fracture polished to a mirror finish. It's a true full pattern, full skin nodule in a medium sized, beautifully polished agate - a true collector show piece by any measure!

Condor agate is a relatively new discovery made in the Patagonia region of Argentina just in the last couple of decades. There are rumors that the site is actually not in Patagonia but is a carefully kept secret to avoid agate hunters intruding on the discovery. There is a single miner who makes expeditions into this remote area on horseback to collect the agate over a vast region. The agate is some of the most colorful to be found anywhere. Typical colors are dominated by reds and dark carnelian that fades to black but can include colors ranging from yellow to green to blue and even purple.
This egg sized half nodule has really interesting stuff going on inside it. There are more subtle color patterns than words can describe. It's a gorgeous stone with a really pleasing formation hidden inside. It's very solid and it took a beautiful polish. Large, complete pattern half nodules like this are by far the most valuable to collectors and one this colorful is sure to be a prized specimen in any collection.
