This gorgeous agate is a nice sized half nodule from a new batch of agates we have slowly been working on from Argentina. It formed with a clear, sparkling quartz crystal lined geode center framed with gorgeous, colorful agate bands around the outside. It's a beautifully colored nodule with a deep, rich orangish red hue series of bandsthat seem to get darker towards the outer bands. One of the amazing things about this Argentinian agate bed is the sheer variety of color that can be found within the deposit. Agate is translucent and this one was photographed in natural outdoor light which makes the color lighter and brighter than it will appear indoors in dimmer light where the red is significantly darker. Like all agates, the more light you put into them, the more of the banding details you will see. This one is a perfect stone with a full pattern and full, flawless skin and of course it is polished to a mirror finish! One of a handful of truly flawless agates in our latest batch!
We've been working for several years now on the large shipment of Condor agates we purchased directly from the miner and have been busy working on in the shop ever since. This has been a very exciting time for us and all that anticipation was well worth it! There are few things as pleasureable in my day as cutting open a full skin agate to discover what hidden color my eyes will be the first to see. Sharing the fruits of those efforts is a close second! Condor agate is a relatively new discovery made in Argentina in the last couple of decades. There is a single miner who makes expeditions into this remote area on horseback to collect the agate over a vast region. The agate is some of the most colorful to be found anywhere. Colors are typically dominated by reds and dark carnelian that fades to black but can include colors ranging from yellow to green to blue and even purple.
It's very solid and it took a beautiful polish. Complete half nodules like this are by far the most valuable to collectors and one this colorful is sure to be a prized specimen in any collection.
This is a nice Condor that's been polished to a liquid perfect, gem quality finish to show it off properly. Our feedback file is full of folks who are simply amazed at the care we take in producing the finest polish a stone can produce - a detail the camera simply can't capture!
