SiS: EXCEPTIONAL 3 1/4" Petrified Wood Sphere - Beautiful Wood Grain and Color!

Regular price $46.00

I somehow managed to miss the best side of this nice sphere.  About 1/3 of the sphere is that pretty speckled purple you see part of in the second photo.  It's an amazing contrast to the very wood tone color of the rest of the sphere!  This is a gorgeous sphere of beautifully figured and richly colored petrified wood and it is by far one of the most eye catching stones in our entire shop!  The wood grain is matched only by the color - and it is all 100% natural!  This perfect, machine ground sphere represents one of the better specimens of this exquisite, rare gem that we have ever offered in a sphere.  The agatized wood is infused with crystal fissures and even fortification agate in several areas and the entire thing took a magnificent polish.  The wood grain is particularly nice in this specimen, as are the crystal lined geode cavities exposed to the surface.  It's an expensive grade of petrified wood to cut into spheres, but the display is so incredible and the color pattern so mind boggling that in the end it produces an amazing piece of natural art!

This is a nicely colored and figured sphere of gem grade petrified wood from Madagascar.  At first glance it looks like domestic wood, but I found a source for some truly remarkable wood from Madagascar the likes of which you won't likely see again!  The best grades of this material produce the rainbow colors so prized in other forests, but with the added bonus that the wood grain is still highly visible in the ancient tree turned stone!  It's a flawless sphere with remarkable color and perfect craftsmanship - truly top grade gem quality material and specimen.  The wood itself is a highly agatized, fossil araucaria tree (one of the earliest conifers) and the logs in this particular petrified forest date to more than 200 million years old!

This sphere is virtually flawless.  It's hard to describe the richness of the color - it needs to be seen in person to be appreciated.  This one measures just a smidge over 3.23" in diameter and weighs 1.66 lbs.  It's a fair bit bigger than a baseball!

Gorgeous by any measure, you're sure to appreciate this natural beauty when you see it in person!
